As part of its broader program on promotion of gender diversity in corporate sector in Kazakhstan, IFC conducted a country-wide baseline research study to identify the number of women on corporate boards and in senior management and assess their impact on companies' financial and non-financial performance, as well, draft Model Gender Policy (MGP) for the corporate sector intended to enable companies to create internal gender-equitable eco-systems.
Objectives: To conduct a research study on board gender diversity in Kazakhstan to raise awareness on the value-added by women on boards.
• Identify current situation on gender diversity in boards and senior management among Kazakhstan companies
• Identify barriers and challenges for women in progressing towards decision making positions
• Test the hypothesis that there is positive relationship between gender diversity in the boardroom and the financial and non-financial performance of the sampled Kazakhstan companies.
• Develop recommendations to overcome the barriers and challenges women face when they enter Boards of Directors
• Draft recommendations on gender equitable policies for private sector
• Draft the List of Women on Board (database)
• Develop Model gender policy
