Large families of Kazakhstan: economic situation, opportunities and their inclusion in the agenda of the government

In this study, an attempt was made to form a holistic socio-demographic portrait of large families and analyze the challenges that they face daily. The ultimate goal of the study is to attract the attention of the state bodies of Kazakhstan to the problems of large families who are in a more vulnerable position and have less opportunities for realizing their human and economic potential.


Conducting an assessment of the situation of large families, as well as developing recommendations on its basis for the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to expand the economic capabilities of large families and increase the inclusiveness of institutions, as well as providing effective mechanisms of social protection and creation of economic opportunities for this category of population.

• Analysis of the current position of large families in Kazakhstan, as well as a comparison with international experience in improving the standard of living of large families;

• Compilation of a social portrait of large families based on the results of a field research;

• Empirical analysis of factors affecting the standard of living of large families;

• Development of recommendations for expanding the economic capabilities of large families of Kazakhstan.
